Description
Come learn parkour with us! All classes (other than Parent & Tot) are 1 hour in length. Our classes are set based on age, and further segmented by our coaches assessment using our Level System. Kids will have the opportunity to level up over time as skills are learned and practiced! However, as there are only levels 0-7 total, leveling up is not expected to happen quickly. Athletes are encouraged to have fun and progress at their own rate! Starting November 18th 2024, we will be testing athletes to confirm their current level, and presenting athletes with bracelets indicating their level.
Classes consist of a warm up, followed by stations with their smaller group, and finish off with conditioning and a few minutes of free time!
All classes run once-per-week, and fall under seasonal terms: Fall, Winter & Spring. Fall Term 2024 Classes run from September 9th - December 22nd. Due to Thanksgiving, Tuesday - Thursday have 15 weekly classes, and Saturday - Monday have 14 weekly classes.
Winter Term 2025 Classes run from January 6th - March 9th. Due to a competition that several of our coaches will be attending as well as Family day, Tuesday - Thursday will have 9 weekly classes, and Saturday - Monday will have 8 weekly classes. Winter Term registration will be available soon!
Cost
Due to the varying length of our Terms, the cost varies as well. The cost of the term for classes is calculated as $23.50 x [the number of classes].
Parent & Tot Classes are $20 per class due to the shorter class time!
For those wishing to enroll but are unable to afford our registration fees, there are sources offering direct individual support such as JumpStart. We do not apply for funding on your behalf, but we can help you register with deferred payment and provide an invoice for you to use while applying.
We offer payment plans when registering for full terms! Either 25% or 50% can be paid up front, with the remainder split over the months up to the end of that term.
If you would like to discuss payment with us further, please email us at info@kwplaygrounds.ca.
FAQ
Do I need to register ahead of time? - Pre-registration isn’t required for drop ins, but it is recommended. It is the only way to guarantee your spot in the program you wish to attend! Pre-registration for a full term of classes is required.
What should we wear/bring? - Clothes you can easily move in (no jeans or hanging jewelry), a labeled water bottle & clean running shoes. If possible, lace up shoes are best!
When should we come to class? - Please arrive approximately 5 minutes before class, to allow for smooth transitions between classes.
Where do we pick up/drop off? - For Intro Kids classes, drop off and pick up at our side entrance, around the left-hand side of the building directly across from the fitness depot. For all other classes, please drop off and pick up at our new entrance at the front of the building!
Can parents stay during class? - Yes! Seating is available on a first come first serve basis. For kids under 6, we ask that parents stay. At least one adult is required to accompany children in a Parent & Tot class.
Should my child wear their level bracelet once they’ve received it? - Yes! It provides a visual for our coaches to know for sure which level they are, which informs which equipment they can use & how familiar they are with Parkour. It’s most important to wear for classes and open gym, but can also be worn to camps (especially if they are Level 3 or higher).
Are masks required? - Masks are not required, but they may be worn if preferred. Please self screen and stay home if you are sick!
Can I take photos or videos of my child during class? - We ask that you are considerate of the privacy of others when filming, photographing or posting images/video of your children online that contain images of other people. We completely understand the desire to share your child's experiences in Parkour with your social circle, or wanting to have photos & videos of them participating for your own memories. Due to the nature of our programs, it is tricky to obtain images & video that do not contain other children. Please ask the parents around you first, and block out faces of those you don't know when posting to social media. There may be some folks who are not okay having their child captured at all; we ask in this circumstance you ensure any photos or videos do not contain their child in particular. As well- some athletes find it difficult to focus and participate fully in class when cameras are out. If possible, please consider waiting until free time to capture your child practicing parkour. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation when capturing your child's awesome moves on camera!
